Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS)

Parents and members of our local community have a key role in our school. They are responsible for raising significant funds, organising events and giving our pupils the opportunites to experience a wide range of additional activities.

Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS) is the team of volunteer parents who schedule, organise and publicise a timetable of fundraising activities and events for our families. Our Summer Fayre is the most fun - and challenging - event the team organises each summer and other regular events include: school children's discos, parents' quiz nights, children's film nights, a spring plant sale, family Bingo evenings and our festive Christmas Fayre.

The 100 Club is also run by FOBS. Every April, family members and friends are able to buy tickets that are entered into the monthly FOBS prize draw - an initiative that raises over £700 each year for our school with a £20 top prize, £10 second prize and two further prizes of £5.

The money raised by FOBS is used to support all of the children who attend Bosbury School through funding the cost of:
- Book bags
- Annual theatre trips
- Playground equipment
- Sports kit
- Musical instruments

Thank you to the current members of FOBS and for all the time they give to our school:

Congratulations to the following lucky people who were the first FOBS 100 Club draw winners of the new school year after being kindly chosen at random by our very lovely new Deputy Headteacher Mrs. McManus! As you can see, it was a particularly great haul for Bosbury mums at the end of term, with one mum being a rare double winner! Enjoy the extra spending money over the summer holidays!

*** 1st Prize of £20 - Polly Gregory***

2nd Prize of £15 - Jo Lloyd (Bertie and Iris' mum!)

3rd Prize of £10 - Max Downes (Class 4 pupil!)

4th Prize of £5 - Giles Pritchard

Don't forget that even though the first six draws have taken place this year, it is still not too late to join the 2018/19 100 Club. You can download entry forms by clicking HERE. The cost reduces by £1.00 every month, so if you join now it will only cost £6.00 per ticket!

Please feel free to come and ask me about the draw at any time - I am at school every morning and afternoon. It would be great to see lots of new members for the remaining draws this year!

Thank you for your support and good luck for the next six months of draws!

Gill Bolton - 100 Club Co-ordinator

Congratulations to Mr. Holland (Jake and Samuel's Dad!) who correctly guessed the EXACT number of pieces on Class 2's Lego model at the Summer Fair! Impressively there were 287 pieces in total!

Congratulations to seasoned local quizzers the Meadow Enders who were victorious in this year's FOBS Adult Quiz Night held at The Bell Inn Bosbury!

The Ledbury-based quiz aficionados finished top with an impressive total of 94.5 points following a consistent performance all evening over Mr. Ponter's challenging eight rounds of questions based on different game shows, seeing off strong late comebacks from Bosbury-based sides The Three Amigos, Bos-Squad and The Deadbeats.

Bookies' favourites and champions last year Mrs. Thompson's team unfortunately had to pull out of the competition at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, while the formidable Bosbury Dads' team of The Flatwood Roberts were narrowly leading all evening until a gamble too far on the final infamous Who Wants To Be A Millionaire round unfortunately cost them both £3,000 and the title.

Congratulations to the Meadow Enders who now get to hold on to the prestigious FOBS Quiz Night trophy as they will no doubt return in twelve months' time to fend off the next challengers. A bank-breaking £96,000 was also giving out in total during the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire round as three teams reached the £32,000 milestone after knowing that the Chinese Grand Prix is held in Shanghai and not the capital Beijing, and so we hope that FOBS have a magnificent Summer Fair and Bostival event in a few weeks' time in order to recoup all of this prize money!

Thank you to Mr. Ponter for all of his hard work in compiling and presenting the quiz, to FOBS Chairpersons Marianne Bailey and Kate Gatfield-Soloman for booking the venue and providing the prizes, to Dave and Lisa Grimes of The Bell for accommodating the event and of course to everyone who came along to put their knowledge to the test on the night!

Can anyone beat the Meadow Enders next year...?

Thank you to all of the families who came along to this year's FOBS Bingo Night, and congratulations to all of the lucky prize winners - Mrs. Fielder in particular did extremely well! Thank you to Marianne and Kate for organizing it, to Mr. Ponter for once again doing the calling and to everyone who made generous donations of prizes, snacks and drinks. A grand total of £209 was raised which is a tremendous result.

Congratulations to the Owen family who were the winners of the FOBS Easter 200 square competition, receiving a huge Easter hamper loaded with chocolate treats to enjoy over the holidays! Thank you also to everyone who bought a square (or two!) to help raise much-needed funds for FOBS!
