Our Governors (September 2018)

 Letter from the Chair - Mrs Emma Smith

As Governors, we are proud of the diverse, friendly and inclusive culture at Bosbury, the hard-working and fun outlook that pupils project and the above national average results they achieve. As a consequence, we take our role as strategic decision-makers extremely seriously. It is not just about the academic results of Bosbury pupils, but the safe environment in which they learn, the skills and attributes they develop and the behaviours they manifest.

As a Leadership Team working with the Headteacher and the Deputy Headteacher, we have a whole-school approach that looks at getting the best out of a challenging budget, with high quality teaching and a dynamic range of enrichment opportunities that are appropriate to our own school community.  We place a strong emphasis on effective governance, monitoring, and the financial management of the school, its culture, ethos and values.

We are a team that works transparently and with both an inward, and outward focus – looking at the needs of our own pupils, parents and carers and actively seeking to learn and engage collaboratively with our wider community of schools, education partners and businesses.

Today’s world gives families and pupils an ever-shifting set of challenges - we want every child to fulfil and realise their own potential, and therefore take full responsibility for providing a fertile ground in which this can happen.

Our purpose

To provide confident, strategic leadership and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.

Governor objectives

  1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  3. Oversee the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

We look forward to guiding the school through another exciting and successful year.

Best Wishes

Mrs. Emma Smith, Chair of Governors
