The Arts and Music
The visual arts are used in many ways across the curriculum, including stimulating creative thought and atmospheres and emphasising historical facts and imagination.
A wide variety of media is experienced, giving the children the opportunity to explore the visual elements and develop their own and collaborative creations. Frequent opportunities are given for hands on experiences in both two and three dimensions, using a range of different materials.
OFSTED SAID ... "Visiting artists work regularly with pupils, which enhances pupils' experiences and achievements."
Music is taught both as part of the curriculum and as a specialist subject. It makes an important contribution to a child's general physical, emotional and social development and enhances self-esteem. All children are offered a wide range of opportunities to get musical!
Activities include steel pans, African drumming, Freestyle Percussion, handbells, orchestral ensembles and singing. In addition, performers and musicians are invited to the school to enrich pupils' appreciation of music and broaden their cultural experiences. Our well established musical groups, including our choir, are regularly in demand to perform at both community and school events in Herefordshire.
