Although COVID-19 was unfortunately still very much a part of everyday life and society was far from being fully reopened, we were at least able to spend the last four months of 2020 with most pupils back in school with conventional classroom learning, even if school trips, events which would usually involve us welcoming parents into school and many other extra-curricular were still some way off returning.
Disaster struck again however immediately into 2021 as schools were once again forced to close to all pupils other than those whose parents or carers were key workers, leaving the majority of families to again have to endure two more months of lockdown learning at home.
Spring very much brought new beginnings as schools were once again permitted to open fully, as we took full advantage of this newfound freedom with an Easter bonnet parade to brighten up residents' lives around the village, the long-awaited return of class outings as Class 1 explored the historical buildings of nearby Ledbury, Class 2 visited Bishopswood, Class 3 braved the high ropes of Go Ape in the Forest of Dean, Class 4 put their physical skills to the test at the Green Spider Outdoor Climbing Centre with a jaunt up the Black Mountains over the border for good measure, while Class 5 enjoyed a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park as well as staying overnight camping on the school field and trying out some aerial dance with the 2Faced Dance Company in the Our Man in the Moone project.
Sports Day returned although sadly without parents being able to attend, while our Key Stage 2 production got incredibly innovative and creative with a spectacular performance of The Lion King on the Key Stage 2 playground, with a limited number of parents being able to enjoy the spectacle.
