Headteacher's Welcome
Hello and a very warm welcome to the website of Bosbury CE Primary School.
We are nestled in a picturesque rural conservation area in Herefordshire in the shadow of the scenic Malvern Hills, just four miles from the popular market town of Ledbury and also a short distance from several surrounding villages.
Our pupils have the advantage of learning at the centre of a rural farming community, and we are also lucky enough to have our beautiful village church situated directly across the road.
While we are extremely fortunate to be situated in such a close-knit location, we still ensure that our pupils experience many opportunities in the wider community, such as themed visits to places of interest like museums and galleries, literary and poetry festivals, music and theatre performances, and of course, the ever-popular three-day residential trips!
We are a welcoming, all-inclusive school where every child matters, focusing on the specific needs of each and every one of our pupils.
Our enriching, thematic curriculum incorporates real life experiences and is designed to enable all children to succeed. We offer modern foreign languages, quality sports coaching through the Kidderminster Harriers foundation, as well as swimming lessons taking place at the nearby Halo Leisure Centre in Ledbury.
We offer exciting forest school opportunities with our own sizeable forest school site located at the top of our school field, with three of our current staff members holding Forest School Leader qualifications.
Recent years have seen the addition of a greenhouse to support gardening at school, as well as a fantastic new school pond project.
Bosbury School has an extremely strong musical and art influence, with several extra-curricular global and themed days contributing to a well-rounded and stimulating education. Music in particular has always been a huge strength at Bosbury, and we are extremely lucky to be able to welcome our specialist music teacher Mrs. Walker every Friday to offer expert music tuition to each class, as well as running our renowned school choir.
Our staff are committed to the all-round development of our pupils, and carry out regular progress checks to make sure children are reaching their full potential. We aim to enable our pupils to gain self-esteem, confidence, independence, imagination and generosity of spirit.
We are lucky enough to be situated on the same site as Leadon Lodge and its own beautiful wooded area, which is run independently by the award-winning Jack-In-The-Box Nursery School; a highly-professional and expert team who also run Crib Cottage over the road next to Bosbury Parish Hall, providing daily care for very young children.
We are therefore an excellent choice for parents who have children both of school and nursery age. From March 2024, Bosbury School has been running its own before and after school breakfast and tea club from Monday to Friday, meaning we are now able to offer truly complete wraparound care from 7:30am to 5:30pm for busy working parents.
Our school offers Thrive support and has a significant SEN focus, with a member of staff (accompanied by our lovely school therapy dog Otto!) being fully trained in mental health to offer full support to both pupils and parents alike.
We have a school crossing patrol operating both at the start and end of the school day in order to keep children and parents safe on the road just outside school, with all of our staff being trained in the use of epi-pens and many of them holding a full set of current paediatric first aid qualifications.
In our 2011 and 2014 OFSTED inspections, we achieved the grade of 'Outstanding', with our most recent inspection carried out in September 2024 also resulting in an extremely positive outcome under the new grading scheme where we received four 'Good' ratings and an 'Outstanding' judgement for the personal development of our pupils (click the logo on the right to view the latest report).
In 2015, the school received a SIAMS 'Outstanding' rating from the Church of England, and in 2023, Bosbury received the new SIAMS top rating of 'Excellent' (again, click the logo to view the most recent report).

In 2017, we developed very special link with the Tara school in Africa, eventually resulting in two members of staff from Bosbury being given the amazing opportunity to visit the Rwandan school over the ensuing summer holidays.
The following year then saw Tara headteacher Emmanuel pay us an extremely special visit as kind-hearted Bosbury pupils helped to raise funds for new school equipment and resources for our new Rwandan friends.
We are proud of our pupils. They take an active role in their wider world and ask ‘big’ questions about it. They are confident, articulate, kind to each other and polite to staff and visitors. They actively participate in our Arts Council, School Council and as playground buddies. Our choir, drumming and drama group are often out and about performing, and over 80% of our children attend an after school club.
Our school is open to pupils from 8:40am to 3:20pm (32.5 hours) during the school day, with after school clubs running until 4:00pm and drumming club taking place on Fridays before the school day begins.
We hope you find all the information you need on our website, but if you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit, please do not hesitate to contact our main reception on 01531 640276, or email admin@bosbury.hereford.sch.uk. We warmly welcome all new prospective pupils and their families for a tour around our lovely school!

We also value all feedback from parents, which can be made on the OFSTED Parent View website at https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/.
Enjoy exploring our ever-growing website, and may I again offer a very warm Bosbury welcome to our fantastic school.
Mrs Ruth McManus
