Subject-Specific Vocabulary
As well as HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS (HFWs) and COMMON EXCEPTION WORDS (see HERE), there are a whole range of other words which children will need to know as part of specific subjects which they will do in school.
These include mathematical vocabulary such as subtraction, fractions and quadrilaterals, scientific terms such as evaporation, magnetic and skeleton, to geographical words such as atlas, population and tributary through to musical terminology such as orchestra, xylophone and tempo.
Below are links to lists of words which children are likely to come across in each academic subject by year group to enable them to practise these words at home.
